MONTREAL — Montreal police say a 21-year-old man shot near a park in the city's Sud-Ouest borough last week has died.

Emergency services were called on the evening of June 24 to Angrignon Park and found the man in the parking lot with a serious bullet wound to his upper body.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died Friday.

His death marks the city's 19th homicide of the year.

Police spokeswoman Caroline Chèvrefils says one or more suspects fled in a vehicle, and a shell casing was found at the scene.
