Montreal police open homicide investigation after man, 19, fatally shot

MONTREAL — Montreal police say they're investigating a homicide after a 19-year-old man was fatally shot on Friday evening in the city's north end. Police say they were called to an intersection in the Montreal-Nord borough around 9:15 p.m.

MONTREAL — Montreal police say they're investigating a homicide after a 19-year-old man was fatally shot on Friday evening in the city's north end.

Police say they were called to an intersection in the Montreal-Nord borough around 9:15 p.m. for a man shot at least once.

Const. Caroline Chèvrefils says the man was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to initial reports, the victim was shot while sitting in a vehicle while the suspect fled on foot.

No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.

The homicide investigation is being handled by the police major-crimes unit and is the 18th homicide recorded on Montreal territory in 2025.
