Advance voting starts Oct. 3

With a full slate of candidates on the ballot, Canadians can start casting their votes in the 2008 general election as early as Oct. 3, Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 by advance voting. The official election day is Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Whistler chamber seeks board nominations

The Whistler Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations from its membership for the 2009 Board of Directors. Chamber members can submit nominations betweem Sept. 17 and Oct. 31. Forms are available online at www.whistlerchamber.

The annual fall used book sale is just around the corner, in front of the IGA Marketplace on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.

‘T-shirt Al’ Davis passes away

One of the characters of Whistler’s early ski bum days, Al Davis, passed away Sept. 9 at the age of 81 after struggling with dementia and related health problems for two years.

COATS FOR KIDS Winter coats for children of all ages can be dropped off at Dual Mountain Drycleaners, both locations, at Market Pavillion and Function Junction. Coats are accessed by anyone in need through the Re-Use It Centre.
