The Vancouver-Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation is half way to securing the $20 million needed to fund its bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Bid Corporation executive officer Don Calder made the announcement Thursday, Aug.

The Vancouver-Whistler bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and Paralympic Games is meeting with broadbase community support along the Sea to Sky corridor, according to the bid organisers.

Facts and logistics, including transportation issues, are what the International Olympic committee wants to hear from the Vancouver-Whistler bid group.

The Vancouver-Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation expects to open an office in Whistler by ski season, to increase public access to the bid group and public awareness of the bid.

A panel of representatives from Salt Lake City, Nagano and Lillehammer may be invited to Whistler to share their experiences with hosting the Winter Olympics.

Whistlerites will be hearing more about the 2010 Olympic bid in the next few months, and will have more opportunities for input into the whole process.
