NANAIMO, B.C. — Mounties in British Columbia say one person is in hospital after a shooting in downtown Naniamo. The RCMP say the shooting was first reported by community safety officers who were flagged down by the victim at about 8 p.m. Saturday.

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say a "prolific offender" has been arrested after officers used a spike belt to prevent the suspect from fleeing in an allegedly stolen vehicle.

The report by the Independent Investigations Office said the injured man — who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome — was never actively resistant to police but was “doggedly non-compliant.”
