Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) announced today that it has expanded its vaccine appointment capacity in Whistler for seniors as well as those who have yet to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Eligible to people aged 12 to 69 for their first dose only, or those aged 70 and up for a first or second dose, VCH has added 300 drop-in spots on June 27 at the Whistler Conference Centre, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional drop-in spots could be added in the future, depending on need.

The Conference Centre is one of four clinics, along with locations in Vancouver, North Vancouver and Richmond, that have added upcoming drop-in booking availability for those seeking their first shot.

All are welcome at the clinics, including those without personal health numbers and people who are not residents of B.C. Staff will be onsite to assist the public in registering and booking appointments at other clinics throughout the region, if necessary.

As of June 10, the most recent data from VCH, 91.5 per cent of Whistlerites aged 12 and up had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, giving it the highest immunization rate of any community in the province.

The Howe Sound health region, which includes Whistler, Pemberton, Squamish, Lions Bay and parts of the southern Stl'atl'mx Nation, recorded just two new cases of coronavirus for the week of June 6 to 12.
