Forecast Coffee from Whistler is brewing up a fresh location in what had previously been a Starbucks Reserve Bar in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant

Something's brewing in Mount Pleasant in the space that was once Starbucks' impressive first "Reserve" cafe in Vancouver.

Whistler's Forecast Coffee is moving in at 2980 Main St. It's the third outpost for the cafe, which operates a Forecast Coffee in the Function Junction area, and Lift Coffee in the Village.

In 2017, Starbucks opened Western Canada's first Reserve Bar store at Main and 14th in Vancouver. The coffee company closed the location permanently on Jan. 31, 2021 as part of its five-year transformation plan.

Before undergoing extensive renovations to achieve the more industrial-chic look of the Reserve Bar, the Mount Pleasant Starbucks had long been a location of the global coffee chain.

In late 2018, Starbucks opened a massive Reserve Bar location in Vancouver at the corner of Pender and Granville streets. That's the biggest 'bux in the city - it's 4,000 square feet and can seat 150 (without any pandemic restrictions).

Forecast's Function Junction cafe not only pours drip and espresso coffee beverages, but also serves up tea, Nitro Flash Brew, and smoothies, along with a menu that ranges from tacos to comforting appy plates, salads, sandwiches, and noodle bowls.
