Applications for the 2024 Whistler Film Festival (WFF) Producers Lab are now being fielded.

The Producers Lab is an intensive project development program designed to augment the careers of up to six independent Canadian producers through the fleshing-out of their original, scripted features.

Over the course of seven months, selected applicants deal with key film industry advisors and mentors in individual, group and market-oriented sessions to expand creative and business skills, and receive project-specific feedback ahead of the next WFF.

"Being accepted to the Whistler Film Festival Producer's Lab has been a career highlight," said program alum Nneka Croal in a press release. "Coming from an acting background and then producing short films, there was so much to learn about making a feature film. Through all of the sessions, the process of financing and distributing a feature was really demystified.

"Although I know it won't be easy, I feel that producing my feature film is now achievable. The lab really prepared us to meet and pitch industry decision makers with confidence and knowledge. The contacts that I've gained are invaluable and I feel like my journey as a producer has really begun in earnest."

Learn more about the Producers Lab at the WFF website. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2024.
