The Audain Art Museum is holding a Community Open House Weekend on April 22 and 23.

The weekend has been organized as a thank you to the community for the support given during the museum's first year.

There will be a cake cutting at noon on both days, and family studio workshops from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Audain's One-derful Gala fundraiser on March 11 raised over $300,000 to go towards the museum's exhibitions and educational programs. The gala, to celebrate the first anniversary of the Audain's opening, entertained 350 guests at the Westin Resort & Spa.

Meanwhile, Grant Arnold, Audain Curator of British Columbia Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery, is discussing the work of street photographer Fred Herzog, whose work is currently on show at the Audain Art Museum.

Arnold will explore the Fred Herzog: Shadowlands exhibition and how his images reveal the impact of modernity on everyday life.

It takes place at the Audain on Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free to museum members and with general admission.

The open house weekend is sponsored by Pique and The Question.

This year the festival is also hosting a photography competition, in conjunction with Mountain Life Magazine. Photos must be taken in the Sea to Sky region, from Vancouver to Pemberton.

The top 10 photos will be determined by an online voting system through WFF's Facebook page, with the winner selected by jury.
