Crankworx Whistler has unveiled the participants for the 2024 Deep Summer Photo Challenge and Dirt Diaries Video Competition.

Both are popular invitational competitions where hopeful creatives are tasked with making a story that embodies the creative spirit of mountain biking while celebrating the industry’s community and culture.

Hannah Childress, Joe Wakefield, Joel Ducrot, Júlio Campos and Samantha Saskia Dugon form the lineup at this year's Deep Summer Photo Challenge, along with a sixth entrant to be found through the Pinkbike Deep Summer Wildcard Photographer Search.

Over three days, they will craft slideshow videos to be presented to an audience of over 4000 people at Whistler Olympic Plaza on July 23, with $5,000 in prize money at stake.

Meanwhile, the Dirt Diaries roster consists of Laurent Bilodeau, Ashley Stewart, Griffin Elsley, Ed Masters, Sandy Ward and Liam Wallace. All will ready a four to six-minute glimpse into the mind and life of a mountain biker, with 11 weeks to shoot and edit.

Having been described as " "the Cannes of the two-wheeled world," Dirt Diaries will take place on July 25 with a $5,000 prize of its own.

"We have an epic lineup of insanely talented contestants and are thrilled about the return of this year’s competitions." says Jacquie McLean, Deep Summer & Dirt Diaries Project Manager, in a press release. "The diverse mix of contestants promises captivating storytelling from local adventures to cultural inspiration, nature, and everything in between. We can’t wait to see what the filmmakers and photographers will bring to the table this year!"
