The show takes place on Canada Day
Whistler Concert Series 0005

Bahamas is coming to Whistler.

The Grammy-nominated artist and five-time Juno award winner is booked to kick off the Whistler Summer Concert Series on Canada Day. His latest album, Bootcut, was nominated for CCMA Alternative Country Album of the Year.

Known also by his real name, Afie Jurvanen, Bahamas has proven to be popular with fans and fellow stars like Taylor Swift, Wilco, k.d. lang, and BTS.

"Honouring Canadian talent on our international stage is the perfect culmination of Whistler’s Canada Day celebrations," says Whistler Mayor Jack Crompton in a press release. "One of the highlights of every summer is witnessing how the free, outdoor concert series brings together people from around the world through the shared joy of experiencing live music. Bahamas is sure to do just that."

The same release notes that this year's activites are "designed for reflection, connection, creativity, and play, offering meaningful experiences for all ages." Other Canada Day highlights to anticipate include a non-motorized parade, interactive village animation and smaller local performances.

Whistler’s own SOUL CLUB (Ben Keating) is on deck for an all-vinyl, all-45 rpm DJ performance at 6:30 p.m. on July 1 before Bahamas takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. A full lineup of summer concerts and outdoor movie nights in Olympic Plaza will be announced May 26.
