The Harvest Moon Festival is on Sept. 30, just after the harvest full moon, which occurs Sept. 29, reaching its fullest at 2:57 a.m.

Squamish Constellation is back with an inaugural fall event.

Organizers pressed pause on the annual three-day Squamish Constellation Festival this past summer, but are back, throwing a one-day musical event on Sept. 30.

The family-friendly Squamish Harvest Moon Festival will be held rain or shine outside the Railway Museum of BC from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Musical acts include Nashville’s Rayland Baxter, well-known Canadians The Bentalls, female country singer Nice Horse, American Idol contestants Cameron Whitcomb and Sara Beth (Seasons 20 and 21, respectively), Squamish's Will Ross, and 23-year-old Indigenous blues singer and guitarist Garret T. Willie from Kingcome Inlet.

“Squamish Harvest Moon Festival will be honouring this day of Truth and Reconciliation in meaningful ways throughout — with invited Elders, dancers, drummers and singers,” said producer Kirsten Andrews in a news release. “We’ve always been personally invested in building new relationships and fostering those we already have, particularly with the Squamish Nation whose unceded and ancestral territory we are fortunate to be on.”

The local festival is still looking for volunteers. A five-hour shift will get volunteers access to the festival. More details can be found on the event’s website.

“We are still in the process of recovering from COVID and what amounted to a very ambitious return in 2022. While we were not able to put on a Constellation Festival this summer, we are thrilled to be producing the Squamish Harvest Moon Festival. It means everything to be able to showcase such incredible live music and celebrate the end of a beautiful summer together,” said Andrews.

There will be hay bales and picnic tables to sit on, but camping chairs are welcome too, the release states.

Children five and under are free and tickets for kids six through 12 are at a reduced fee.

The event is zero waste. Nesters Market is providing a water refill station; bring an empty refillable water bottle.

There are a few ticket options. Before the show, adult tickets are $59 and then $69 on the event day, not including taxes and fees. Kids aged six to 12 are $29.

There are also VIP and group options.

Tickets are on sale now at constellationfest.tickit.ca.
