Telluride MountainFilm Festival returns for fourth year

Telluride’s MountainFilm Festival returns to Whistler for its fourth year next Wednesday and Thursday.

What: Telluride MountainFilm Festival

Where: MY Millennium Place

When: Feb. 2 & 3, 7 p.m.

The festival brings an exhilarating mix of films from around the world; some shorts as well as longer pieces with subjects ranging from adventure sports from all over the globe, glimpses of different cultures and portraits of remarkable people. Each evening will include a blend of cultural and adventure films.

A press release states: "The films tell us something about the world we live in, and the world we would like to live in. MountainFilm is about ideas. It is about cultures and the landscapes they occupy. It is about a world where adventure is alive, history is important and people are passionate about what they believe. It is about environmental integrity and about a rich spirit of celebration."

Proceeds from MountainFilm will benefit the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund. This fund is supported by donations from Whistler-Blackcomb employees that are matched by the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation.

"The Fund supports local environmental projects that are chosen by staff members," says Allana Hamm, chairperson for the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund. "To date we have collected over $100,000 and completed 13 local projects."

Tickets are $15 each evening or $25 for both nights. Tickets are available at MY Place or through Ticketmaster: www.ticketmaster.ca or 604-280-4444

The Telluride MountainFilm Festival is presented by Raynier Institute & Foundation and Whistler-Blackcomb.
