Two-time Grammy and Juno nominee Fresh IE visits Pemberton Sept. 23

Award-winning rapper and hip-hop artist Fresh IE is offering a free night of music in Pemberton on September 23 at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Community Barn. He will be joined by special guests J Grace and David Seida. Freewill offerings are encouraged in support of Young Life of Canada. 

Rob Wilson, better known by his stage name Fresh IE, is a singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Man. and an ordained Christian minister. He has produced over 22 albums and written over 400 songs. In 2003, Fresh IE was the first Canadian rapper to be nominated for a Grammy award for his album Red Letterz. His second Grammy nomination came in 2005 for Truth is Fallin’ in tha Streetz.

Other accolades on his resume include 22 Covenant Awards and a Gospel Music Award for his song "Lockjaw." The Manitoba native received a Juno nomination in 2020 for his latest album, ILL Street Blues.

Longtime Sea to Sky locals might remember Fresh IE from his shows at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He is an active philanthropist, having performed for prison inmates and worked with young adults struggling with addiction. His mentorship E.D.I.F.Y. teaches young participants how to express themselves in a healthy manner while developing their musical and artistic abilities.
