The Whistler Film Festival (WFF), in partnership with FilmPEI, has selected 14 Prince Edward Island-based screenwriters and producers to participate in a new project development program.

Luc Trottier, Shannon Shura, Walker MacDonald, Hélène Lebon, Sharlene Kelly, Shane Mountain, Jeana MacIsaac and Susan Rodgers have made the cut, alongside the duos of Logan Fulford and Celeste McNiven, Richard Lush and Julie Pellissier-Lush, as well as Daniel Brown and Simon Reid.

Over the next eight months, these individuals will work with key media industry advisors and mentors in individual, group and market-oriented development sessions to expand creative and business skills, further develop narrative screenplays or factual concepts, and receive project-specific feedback.

“The Whistler Film Festival Society (WFFS) has steadily grown its capacity to offer high-level professional industry training to mid-career and emerging creators from across the country and the results are being noticed. We now offer 12 highly competitive Talent Programs and are proud to partner with industry organizations to enhance talent development throughout the Canadian screen industry, ” said Angela Heck, WFFS executive director, in a release.

“Participants will learn from the established industry professions through customized mentorship and training and be able to take advantage of the opportunities that are available at the Whistler Film Festival and Content Summit."
