The end-of-season blow out bash known as the World Ski and Snowboard Festival is upon us for another year.
With a condensed six-day lineup, you'll have to schedule your sleep after the festivities wrap up on April 15. Here are a few events you don't want to miss:
Art + Soul The massive art show that takes place in the Whistler Conference Centre foyer has undergone a few name changes over the years. For 2018, it's morphing from State of the ART to Art + Soul. However, the show, which will kick off with an après opening on Tuesday, April 10 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., will feature the same range of artists, all curated by Ace Mackay-Smith. 72Hr Filmmaker Showdown What happens when you let the creative minds of Whistler (and, more recently, Vancouver) filmmakers run wild? You get an eclectic collection of three-to-five minute films. Participants of the 72Hr Filmmaker Showdown have—you guessed it—exactly 72 hours to create a film from scratch, incorporating a prop to ensure their productions are shot in that timeframe. The best will be selected to screen on Wednesday, April 11 at the Whistler Conference Centre.
Pro Photographer Showdown The showdown is consistently a showstopper. A jury has hand-picked four professional photographers, plus one "wildcard" who applied, who will offer up their best action sports photography to vie for first place. This year the talent includes Ashley Barker, Chris Burkard, Fred Mortagne, Grant Gunderson and Roberto Alegria. Catch the show on Thursday, April 12 at the Whistler Conference Centre.

Fashionable fundraiser
Whistler Secondary School Grade 12 students are hitting the catwalk to fundraise for their prom.
This year, the students will show off some of Whistler's clothing brands under the theme of "Through the Ages" at a fashion show on Thursday, April 19. The event will include a bake sale and silent auction. It's set to run at the school from 7 to 9 p.m.

Green art
Have you ever heard of kokedama? It's a Japanese art that involves wrapping a root system of a plant into a ball of soil and moss. The result is a "botanical sphere" that can be hung as a "string garden" or displayed in a dish.
Locals can get their hands dirty and make their own kokedama minis at Gather Creatives in Whistler on Thursday, April 5. The class—which costs $75—takes place at Gather Atelier from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
It will include instruction, a demonstration and all the materials you need.
