Who: Whole Lotta Led
Where: Dustys
When: Saturday, Dec. 18
What are you up to this Saturday night? Wanna go see Zeppelin play down at the neighbourhood pub?
Okay. So Zeppelin is not playing at Dustys. But the next best thing is going down loud and proud Whole Lotta Led, Whistlers own Zeppelin tribute band featuring uncanny imitations of Plants wailing vocals by Greg Reamsbottom and Pages lush guitar stylings by "Creekside" Phil Richard, who is known to break out the cello bow now and then.
The local boys are embarking on their third season of getting the Led out for Whistler Zep-fans and show no sign of slowing down. Reamsbottom says the band will be rockin out a couple of new tunes along with their sizzlin standards, although for a new crop of Whistler Zep-heads its a whole new ballgame.
Rock n roll.
Win a date with imminent fame
After giving away several snowboards over the past months at their weekly Wednesday industry/locals nights Buffalo Bills is upping the ante.
Partiers at the club this Wednesday will get the chance to win a day on the slopes with Will Wissman.
According to Bills head honcho Dale Schweighart, Wissman, a published magazine photographer, has agreed to take the winning rider out on the hill and snap a bunch of the kind of pictures that can fast-track a career in this town.
No skill testing questions, just mad skills and lots of Kodak courage will be required to claim this prize.
Down Under open for XXX-Mas
Whistlers newest nightclub will open its doors for the Fifth Annual XXX-Mas party on Friday, Dec. 17.
The space beneath the Amsterdam Pub and Café, formerly known as Maxx Fish, is reopening as Down Under and will debut as the host venue for Whistlers annual night of holiday naughtiness, presented this year by Shakedown Entertainment, Nasty Nymph Productions and WildinWhistler.com.
This years XXX-Mas DJ lineup features Altered Egos a.k.a. dueling DJs Andy Clockwork and Expo and Sarah Hannah, with live vocals by Ingrid Hakanson.
Tickets are $15, available in advance from the Love Nest, Dirty Beats and the Amsterdam. For more information call 604-902-0510.
