The Lil’wat Business Group (LBG) has officially merged with Mount Currie Concrete Grizzlys, deepening its reach into the regional construction sector.
In a July 10 press release, the Lil’wat Business Group announced it had absorbed the Grizzlys—a construction company launched in 2017 by Colin Pascal—into its network of enterprises, which already span retail, forestry and construction.
“We’re excited to welcome Mount Currie Concrete Grizzlys into the LBG family,” said LBG CEO Rosemary Stager in a release. “Colin has built a trusted business that reflects our values of sustainability, collaboration, and economic empowerment.”
Pascal, who built the Grizzlys from the ground up, called the merger a step toward growth and resilience.
“I'm really looking forward to working together with the Lil’wat Business Group team,” he said. “This gives us the support to grow while still being able to serve our Sea to Sky clients the way we always have. It’s going to open up some great opportunities for bigger projects and more work for people in the community.”
The move is the latest in a series of strategic acquisitions by LBG. In the last year, the business group entered into a limited partnership with Pemberton Concrete Inc. and purchased the Hitching Post Motel in Mount Currie as part of a broader push to “build a strong, diversified economic base,” according to LBG.
Located in Mount Currie, approximately 35 kilometres north of Whistler, LBG is mandated to generate jobs, respect cultural values, and re-establish Lil̓wat7úl presence on its traditional territory, including in Pemberton and Whistler.
In past interviews, Stager has emphasized the group’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with values-aligned businesses. LBG already works alongside regional players such as Murphy Construction, Sea to Sky Soils and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District.
