New campground opens this month in Whistler Olympic Park

Whistler Olympic Park RV & Campground will provide 39 campsites, 20 RV sites, and 19 multi-use sites in the heart of the Callaghan Valley
The Whistler Olympic Park RV & Campground opens June 30.

Whistler newest campground is set to open later this month in the heart of the Callaghan Valley.

The Whistler Olympic Park RV & Campground will provide 39 campsites, 20 full-service RV sites, and 19 unserviced multi-use sites for tenting and smaller recreational vehicles.

Its inaugural season will run from June 30 to Oct. 2 in Whistler Olympic Park. In future years, the campground will operate from early summer to fall, “complementing Whistler Olympic Park’s winter offering as a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination and Nordic sport training centre,” a release Wednesday said.

“Campsites in the Sea to Sky Corridor are limited and there has been a big demand in recent years. We have a beautiful and spacious venue that is busy in the winter but has not been used much in summer, so we started exploring this project in 2018,” said Tim Hope, managing director of Whistler Olympic Park, in the release. “We are excited that we can now add important campsite inventory to the region, and look forward to welcoming campers to experience the Park’s beautiful setting, explore the area and learn about our Olympic legacy.”

All revenue from the campground will contribute to growing Nordic winter sports and athletes, the release said, ensuring the Olympic legacy facility is “maintained and relevant for recreational and sport users.”

Whistler Olympic Park is also open to the general public this summer, starting June 30, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Activities offered at the venue include Discover Biathlon, hiking, and disc golf. Park access is free for non-campers, and free parking is available onsite.
