Sentencing for Roger Molinaro is slated for Dec. 17, following his conviction last month on three counts related to the historic sexual abuse of two girls.
Molinaro, a Pemberton resident, was found guilty on June 25 of two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual touching of a person under the age of 16. The ruling was delivered by Judge Lyndsay Smith, who heard the case in Pemberton.
Smith dismissed other charges, including allegations of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching, citing insufficient evidence or lack of clarity about the timing of the alleged offences.
Molinaro was arrested in April 2020 after police launched an investigation into historical allegations of child sexual assault between 2007 and 2018. He was found guilty in November 2021 on seven charges stemming from the same allegations and sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison in August 2022. In December 2023, upon appeal, Molinaro was acquitted of one charge and granted a new trial.
A retrial began in October 2024, with closing arguments heard in March 2025 at the North Vancouver Provincial Court.
In her June decision on the second trial, Justice Smith said she found both complainants credible and rejected the defence’s position that the allegations were fabricated.
Sentencing will take place in the Pemberton Provincial Court.
