UPDATE: As of about 10:55 a.m., a fire on Whistler Mountain is now considered out, according to Whistler Blackcomb.

"The fire has been extinguished and crews are now entering the mop up stage," a spokesperson said. "Extensive fire watch has not identified any other fires in the area. Whistler Blackcomb will remain closed for the day due to an unstable weather pattern with more storm activity forecast."

A very small fire, about 0.009 hectares in size, is reportedly burning on Whistler Mountain, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire is located south of Harmony Creek, and while BCWS listed it as human-caused, a representative for Whistler Blackcomb said it was caused by lightning.

"We can confirm a lightning strike has triggered a small fire near Symphony Express on Whistler Mountain. Crews are currently assessing and engaging in any necessary activity to address the strike currently. We will provide updates as needed," said WB's senior manager of communications Dane Gergovich, in an email.

Whistler Blackcomb will remain closed for the day due to continued lightning in the forecast.

Meanwhile, a lightning storm that rolled through the Sea to Sky last night and early this morning sparked a small handful of new blazes near Pemberton.

According to BCWS, there are three new fires in the vicinity of Pemberton, ranging in size from 0.009 to 0.3 hectares. All are suspected to be lightning-caused.
