A watermain break in Mount Currie is affecting Lil’wat Nation’s downtown core, the Lillooet Lake Road and Industrial Park areas. The Nation and Village of Pemberton have asked residents in those affected areas to limit water use to essential needs until the issue is resolved.

“We’ve seen a significant spike in water usage over the past week and believe it may be due to a watermain break,” explained a statement posted to Lil’wat’s Facebook page. “At the moment, our pumps are unable to keep the reservoir full. Our public works team is actively working to locate and fix the issue.”

The Nation has asked residents to keep an eye out for unusual water ponding—an accumulation of water on the surface, typically in streets or low-lying areas, due to a break or drainage issue. If ponding is spotted, residents are asked to call 604-894-6115 or email [email protected].

Once the leak is found, the Nation warned repair work may cause additional temporary disruptions.

The Village added people in affected areas may notice lower water pressure during this time.

The next update from the Nation will be on May 2 on its Facebook page. The Village will post updates to its website and Facebook page.
