Whistler's winter season is going out with a bang 🌨️

If you were anticipating sunny spring conditions for one last weekend of skiing or riding on Whistler Mountain this winter, you're as out of luck as this slush cup competitor.

There's just two days left for skiing and snowboarding on Whistler Mountain until next winter, but it looks like Mother Nature might not have gotten the memo.

After receiving about 70 centimetres of new snow in the last seven days, Whistler's slopes are in store for another top up this weekend as a wintry storm rolls into the region. Whistler Blackcomb's weather forecast calls for three to six cm of accumulation on Saturday at the Roundhouse elevation, with another 10 to 15 cm to follow on Sunday.

Racers competing in the World Ski and Snowboard Festival's Saudan Couloir Race Extreme on Blackcomb Saturday and the Slush Cup on Whistler Mountain Sunday should also expect to deal with moderate winds blowing during the events. The freezing level, meanwhile, is anticipated to fall around 1400 to 1500 metres over the weekend. Temperatures in the alpine are predicted to reach highs of 0 degrees C Saturday and 1 C Sunday, with lows of -3 C.

In the valley, temperatures will warm up to a high of 6 C on both Saturday and Sunday, as Friday's mostly sunny skies shift to cloudy conditions. Periods of rain are expected at lower elevations throughout the weekend and into the workweek.

If you're heading into the backcountry rather than the resort, Avalanche Canada shared some valuable information in this week's backcountry update to keep in mind before and during your trip.
