The Family Network for Deaf Children (FNDC) is set to host its first Family Deaf Camp at the Athletes Centre in Whistler, B.C., from July 3 to 6, 2025.
The camp will welcome approximately 173 participants—Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing children, youth, and adults—for a fully immersive American Sign Language (ASL) experience, according to a press release by FNDC. Activities will include outdoor adventures, workshops, and shared meals, all designed to foster community, connection, and pride in Deaf culture.
FNDC has supported Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and families across B.C. since 1995, the release notes. It remains the only organization in the province offering ASL-immersion summer camps through its Deaf Youth Today (DYT) program.
DYT includes: summer camps that build ASL fluency and community among DHH kids and teens; leader in training programs to support youth leadership and job readiness; summer employment opportunities for young Deaf adults to gain experience and mentorship.
