Heading up to Whistler this weekend? You might want to pack an umbrella.

As of Friday afternoon, the weekend forecast calls for rain and more rain in the valley—no word yet on how all that precipitation will translate up the mountain, so buyer beware.

The backcountry avalanche risk in the Sea to Sky region is "considerable" heading in to the weekend, so as always, be sure to take the necessary precautions if you're heading out in search of adventure.

On the resort's events schedule, the BC Snowboard Series returns to Whistler Blackcomb this weekend, with slopestyle events planned for both Saturday and Sunday, while the Whistler Naturalists are hosting their monthly bird walk on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
