Amalia Pelchat went for it on Wednesday at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics, but came up short. The Whistlerite finished ninth in ladies' snowboard slopestyle with a high score of 53.50 points.

Hanna Karrer secured victory for Austria (89.00), just ahead of Kiwi runner-up Lucia Georgalli (88.25). Bronze went to Vanessa Volopichova from Czechia (87.00).

Meanwhile, Anne-Marie Joncas won two of her ski cross heats but was ultimately unable to progress past the group stage.

The women's ski cross podium in South Korea included champion Uma Kruse Een of Sweden, second-place American Morgan Shute and Leena Thommen in third for Switzerland.

Sweden also prevailed in the mixed team event ahead of the United States and Switzerland, in that order. Both Canadian units were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

That leaves Anthony Shelly as the lone Whistler medallist in South Korea so far. Shelly took hold of a silver medal on Jan. 20 in men's boardercross.

Pelchat will be back on Sunday for snowboard big air. View full results from Gangwon 2024 here.
