Axemen Rugby Club stalwart Blake Mahovic recently signed a contract to play professional rugby league with the Toronto Wolfpack, and he's wasted little time in making an impact.
Mahovic was named Man of the Match in the Wolfpack's smothering 66-10 triumph over the Boston 13s on Labour Day weekend. The Squamish resident and his teammates battered the visitors from start to finish in a game that was never in doubt, giving fans at Lamport Stadium plenty to get loud about.
Shockingly, September 2's matchup yielded only Toronto's second-largest margin of victory so far this season. The Wolfpack authored a titanic 88-4 decimation of the Atlanta Rhinos back on August 19, proving that their explosion of offence against Boston was no fluke. Indeed, the fewest number of points that Toronto has scored in three games this year was 60, in a similarly-lopsided 60-6 drubbing of the Whistler Wolves.
Mahovic and the Wolfpack will next see action on September 16 in a rematch against the Rhinos, who are no doubt motivated to avenge their last outing. More information and streaming options can be found online.
