The Canadian junior luge team is off to a fast start, and Sea to Sky locals have certainly been pulling their weight.

Embyr-Lee Susko opened her 2023 campaign with three straight Junior World Cup (JWC) victories in singles: twice in Park City, Utah and once in Whistler. Another homegrown slider, Midori Holland, snagged bronze in Park City and ended up fourth on home ice last weekend. Kailey Allan of Calgary chipped in with silver in Whistler.

The same trio reached the podium at the recent America Pacific Championships: Susko golden, Allan with silver and Holland bronze. Susko and Beattie Podulsky also prevailed in women's doubles at the America Pacifics.

As close friends off the ice, Susko and Podulsky are clicking as a doubles pair with three JWC runner-up results in Park City and Whistler.

Canada's team program has also been finding success. Holland, Susko, Podulsky and Dylan Morse combined for silver in Park City, while a slightly different quartet of Allan, Susko, Podulsky and Morse clinched bronze at Whistler's team event.

In men's singles, Morse finished second in Whistler while Theo Downey clocked in for third. The Calgarians found themselves with gold and silver respectively at America Pacifics.

All of the above will soon join Trinity Ellis, Carolyn Maxwell, Caitlin Nash, Devin Wardrope and Cole Zajanski in action Dec. 15 and 16 when the FIL Luge World Cup comes to Whistler.
