The Outdoor Research Trick Showdown is a brand-new event on Crankworx Whistler's ledger.
Scheduled for Aug. 15, this contest injects some more freestyle flavour into the festival alongside popular existing disciplines like Red Bull Joyride, Speed and Style, the Whip-off and the RockShox Canadian Open Downhill, among others.
"The Outdoor Research Trick Showdown is...set to bring an NBA Slam Dunk Contest–style showdown to the legendary Whistler Boneyard," said Christopher Colpitts, senior manager of sport at Crankworx Events Inc. "This high-energy, head-to-head contest will feature eight invited men and four women, each throwing down their wildest and most creative tricks — but with one rule: no repeated tricks."
Athletes will be matched up at random and go trick-for-trick with one another in an elimination-style faceoff.
Crankworx managing director Darren Kinnaird remarked: "Bringing Outdoor Research athletes in as judges adds an extra dimension we’re really stoked about. Fans can expect big tricks and intense battles to kick off the final weekend of Crankworx Whistler 2025."
The 20th anniversary edition of Crankworx Whistler takes place from Aug. 8 to 17. Find out more by clicking here.
