Fifteen members of the Whistler-Blackcomb Freestyle Ski Club headed to Apex Mountain Resort in Penticton this past weekend for the B.C. Freestyle Championships. Kids from across the province competed in moguls, dual moguls, and big air.

Whistler’s athletes netted over a dozen medals in their respective age categories, and several were crowned provincial champions.

In the Junior Girls (16 to 18) category, veteran Dana Jensen placed first in dual moguls and second in moguls while competing against a selection of athletes that will be looking for spots on the national development team.

Langley’s Keltie Hicks, now 15, earned three medals in Juvenile Girls (14 to 15), placing second in moguls and picking up bronze medals in dual moguls and big air.

Thirteen-year-old Yuki Tsubota of Pemberton, competing in Youth Girls (12 to 13), placed first in the dual moguls and big air events, and second in moguls.

Jae Woo Choi of Whistler, competing in Youth Boys, earned silver medals in all three events.

In the Super Youth category (age 11 and under), West Vancouver’s Sophie McGregor placed third in moguls, while Pemberton’s Brenden Kelly was second in moguls. Both are 11 years old.
