In her first official race since Crankworx Rotorua in March, Georgia Astle won gold at the second Phat Wednesdays race of the summer with a time of two minutes, 37.30 seconds in the women's age 17+ division. Fellow Whistlerite Sophi Lawrence took silver (2:50.90) and Rebecca Beaton of Pemberton clocked in for bronze (2:52.50).

It was Astle's first podium finish since the Whip-Off in Rotorua, where she placed second.

Phat Wednesdays has long been a showcase for homegrown young talent, and this season is turning out to be no exception. Cailiegh Koppang prevailed in the girls' age 10-16 race (2:42.80) and now has three medals in as many competitions. In so doing, she bested Cami Bragg (2:46.50), who managed a second straight runner-up finish. Mhairi Smart, who won the season opener, ended up third (2:47.70).

Chalk up another victory for Anthony Shelly (2:22.70) among boys aged 14 to 16. Max Caro (2:23.40) and Mateo Quist (2:26.80) rounded out that particular podium.
