Gymnasts in provincials

A handful of Whistler gymnasts made the trip to Kamloops this past weekend to compete in the B.C. Gymnastics Championships.

A handful of Whistler gymnasts made the trip to Kamloops this past weekend to compete in the B.C. Gymnastics Championships.

The team’s best results were in the P2 Novice flight, where Tyece Fairweather, Jasmine Budge and Meg Halliwell were third, fourth and ninth all around. Fairweather earned a bronze on the floor, was fourth on beam and eighth on vault and bars. Budge earned a silver on beam, a bronze on the vault and bars, and was ninth on the floor. Meg Halliwell was fifth on the vault, seventh on beam, eighth on floor and ninth on bars.

Nicola Halliwell, who won her category at provincials last year and was bumped up to the more competitive P3 category, placed 23 rd . Her top result was a 14 th place finish on beam.

Lenka Prochazka competed in Provincial 2 Novice, and tied for seventh out of 44 athletes. She placed ninth on floor, 11 th on bars, 14 th on beam and 18 th on vault.

Sonya D’Artois competed in Provincial 2 Open, and placed 17 th . Her best result was a fourth place finish on bars, followed by a sixth place finish on beam.

Keely Wentzel competed in Level 2 Argo, placing 38 th all around. Her best result was 27 th on the floor.
