Halloween Loonie tonight

There are few things spookier than being alone in the woods after dark, one night before Halloween, unless it’s being alone in the woods, one night before Halloween, while riding your bike.

For the fourth year, the Whistler Off-Road Cycling Association is hosting a Halloween Loonie ride, marking a route through the forest at Lost Lake with pumpkins and reflective tape. You’ll need a good light, or two, with batteries fully charged to follow the route as there will be some singletrack.

Instead of prizes for fastest racers, the prizes will once again go to the riders with the best costume. Helmets are mandatory, and you should be able to see and pedal without risk of your costume causing an accident.

The sign-on is at 5:30 p.m. at the Mons Ticket Booth, at the north end of Lost Lake. The race starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a potluck dinner at Edgewater. You should drop off your dishes/edibles at Edgewater before the start of the ride to save space in the pack truck. Some 150 riders turned out last year.
