Fellow Canadian Laurie Blouin ended up fourth

Whistler’s Jasmine Baird hopes to look back on her first Olympic Games with pride, regardless of her finish in the standings.

Back in World Cup action for the first time since March, Jasmine Baird ended up in seventh place during last Saturday's big air contest in Chur, Switzerland. The Whistler native started the finals strong, but was unable to land the all-important second trick needed for medal contention.

Gold went to Kokomo Murase of Japan, who earned 179.25 points to top fellow countrywoman Reira Iwabuchi (175.50). Great Britain's Mia Brookes checked in for bronze (169.75).

Baird's Canadian teammate, 2018 Olympic slopestyle silver medallist Laurie Blouin, did get a full pull, but missed the podium in fourth (159.75).

"Happy I made finals, but bummed I only landed one of two tricks," Baird said after the event. "I think I could've been podium or close if I landed, so it hurts the ego a bit, but still happy with top 10."

Juliette Pelchat was also slated to start in Chur, but found herself unable to compete after getting dinged up in practice.

"Truly eventful," Pelchat remarked on her Instagram account. "Unfortunately had a little ankle crunch in practice and couldn’t compete, but I was cheering on the sidelines. Onto the next!"
