It's official: Pemberton Secondary School (PSS) has locked down it's fourth consecutive provincial mountain bike banner thanks to robust outings from multiple athletes last Thursday and Friday in Powell River, B.C.
Finley Wood struck gold in the bantam boys cross-country race (22:38.7). Adam Hauk earned silver (22:44.5) and bronze went to Sacha Strajt-Bornik (22:46.5).
Wood also placed third in enduro (7:41.9) behind Tide Kruiswyk (7:28.9) and Tanner Ciarniello (7:36.5) to be named King of the Mountain as the best overall competitor in his division.
Among junior girls, Arleigh Kemp finished second in enduro (8:07.0) between victorious Jenna Foreman (8:01.2) and third-placer Brooke Bates (8:09.5). Kemp just missed out on cross-country hardware in fourth, but still did enough to become Queen of the Mountain for her age bracket.
Hayden Pegram grabbed bronze in the senior boys enduro (8:34.3), sharing a podium with Mateo Quist (8:19.1) and Rhys Vath (8:20.6).
Both the junior and senior PSS teams won their respective overall categories.
Approximately 600 riders from 73 schools took part in Powell River's festivities. Click here for more results, and check back with Pique Newsmagazine for more on this story.
