Sea to Sky riders shine in Sunshine Coaster

The Sunshine Coaster B.C. Cup weekend at Roberts Creek drew a huge crowd of riders in both the cross-country and downhill mountain bike events.

The Sunshine Coaster B.C. Cup weekend at Roberts Creek drew a huge crowd of riders in both the cross-country and downhill mountain bike events. Sea to Sky athletes factored in both races, and the ferry home from the Sunshine Coast was a little heavier with medals.

In cross-country, Rob Leigh of Team Squamish placed first in Junior Men 17 to 18 in 1:39:06, over nine minutes faster than the next fastest racer in the category. Lauren Rosser of Team Squamish also won the Junior Women 15 to 18 category by over two and a half minutes, with teammate Kristin Drygas placing third.

Quinn Moberg of Team Squamish was first in the Under 17 Men.

Trevor Hopkins of Team Whistler placed third in the competitive Master 30 to 39 Men, less than a minute and a half back of the winner.

Sarah Greenwood of Squamish was 11 th in the women's Open Citizen two-lap race, and in the three-lap category Whistler's Matt Bastien was seventh and Colin Bell of Squamish placed 10 th .

The downhill took place on Sunday.

In the elite category Whistler's Kari Mancer placed second, between Micayla Gatto of West Vancouver and Danice Uyesugi of North Vancouver.

Clark Lewis of Squamish was fourth in Master 30 to 39 Men.

David Morris of Whistler was 30 th in 30-plus Citizen Men.

Veronika Voracek of Brackendale was first in Under 30 Citizen Women.
