Sprite series continues with rail jam
The sun was out for the more than 100 skiers and riders who took part in the Sprite Park Rider Series rail jam last Sunday (April 4). Originally it was supposed to be a two-run judged contest with the best score counting, but that was abandoned in the mens over 17 category because of the level of interest more than 40 riders. The organizers then changed the format to a jam session.
The senior men were given an hour and a half to make as many runs as they wanted, which encouraged them to be creative and take a few chances. When the time was up the judges, with the help of riders and spectators, then picked the top-10.
In the prize draw, Taylor McGovern won the Atomic Tweak skis and Zach Nash won the Atomic Hatchet snowboard.
There are now just two more Sprite Series events on the calendar for this season. The next contest is the slopestyle on Whistler for May 9, followed by a rail jam on May 15.
You can register in advance at any Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations or Ski School Sales location, or in the Roundhouse Lodge until 10 a.m. on the day of a competition.
