Super turnout for super G

50 racers on new snow

The Kokanee Valley Race Series sped things up a little last Thursday, March 2, with more than 50 racers taking part in a super G on Upper Dave Murray.

There was some new snow on the ground, but racers still managed some fast times on a soft packed course that featured close to 400 metres of vertical.

Adam Schbaechter won the Atomic skis in the prize draw.

The race season continues this Sunday, March 12 with the third and final Masters Race of the year – a giant slalom on Gandy Dancer. Registration is at the Rendezvous until 9:45 a.m.

The next Kokanee race is on Thursday, March 16, location and discipline to be announced. Organizers are hoping to put the race in a new location rarely or never used for the series.

The final event of the season is a dual slalom the following Thursday, March 23 on Blackcomb.
