The Whistler Golf Club has secured the American Junior Golf Association's prestigious Future Links Tournament, Aug. 20-23, 2001.

The AJGA will hold two tournaments in Canada this year, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Golf Association, and Whistler's Arnold Palmer course was successful in meeting the high selection standards.

The AJGA is the largest and most distinguished junior golf organization in the world, with superstar alumni players such as Tiger Woods and Canada's Mike Weir. More than 140 AJGA alumni are currently playing professionally on the PGA and LPGA tours.

The tournament will take place over four days, with 59 boys and 15 girls, and half the field guaranteed to Canadian players. This is an excellent opportunity for Canadian junior golfers to gain exposure to NCAA coaches and the possibility of golf scholarships to American universities.

The media exposure is expected to reach 1.5 million households, through various major North American golf publications.
