Valentino Blewett's triumphant performance at the 2025 Youth & Junior iQFOiL International Games has evidently gotten him noticed.

Blewett is one of three athletes who have been named to a Sail Canada national roster for the first time. He made the cut alongside fellow newcomers Victoria Coady of Coquitlam, B.C. and Lilly Rainham of Halifax, N.S.

Possessing both Canadian and Italian citizenship, Blewett spent his youth as a member of the Whistler Sailing Association (WSA). Last year he finished 11th at the iQFOIL Youth & Junior World Championships.

Coady won the 2024 Sail Canada ILCA 6 Senior Championship. That same year, Rainham emerged as both North American and Nova Scotia provincial champ among female ILCA 6 sailors.

A total of 21 individuals make up this iteration of the Canadian sailing team, with a press release noting that all will get financial support through the Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program to help offset sport-related costs. Team members also receive tuition support for post-secondary education during or after their high-performance careers.
