Weasels wanted for Nor-Am races

The Whistler 2001 Nor-Am Race Committee is looking for 200 to 300 Weasels, the kind that can set gates, plant fences and generally help run the nine Ingle Nor-am races scheduled from Feb. 26 to March 5 on Whistler Mountain.

The Whistler 2001 Nor-Am Race Committee is looking for 200 to 300 Weasels, the kind that can set gates, plant fences and generally help run the nine Ingle Nor-am races scheduled from Feb. 26 to March 5 on Whistler Mountain.

For the past 20 years, the Whistler Weasel Workers has been making events like the Nor-Am and World Cup downhill races possible. Organizers want to make a good impression for the 2010 Olympic Bid and to lure a men’s World Cup downhill back to Whistler in the future.

All Weasels who work a certain number of days will receive a Descente spring ski jacket, 50 per cent off meals at mountain venues, and lunch on training and race days. A beer tent will be open daily outside of the new Dusty’s, and as usual there will be a Weasel party to wrap up the event. Mountain tickets or credits for season passes will be issued for days worked, plus one extra ticket for three days worked, two tickets for five days, three for eight, and five for 12.

To volunteer, call accreditation Weasel Pat Johnstone at 970-5904.

More than 180 athletes are expected from North America and Europe to compete in the Nor-Am speed races.
