Local gymnast Max Oughtred recently emerged victorious at this year's Canadian National Gymnastics Championships in the double mini trampoline event.

Oughtred scored a total of 101.00 points as the only athlete in the boys' age 16-17 division breach the century mark. His fellow British Columbian Brayden Renou (98.70) was relegated to second place, and third went to Yannick Lanquetin of Alberta (98.50).

With this victory, Oughtred has now earned an invitation to the World Age Group Gymnastics Competition (WAGC) being held this November in Pamplona, Spain. WAGCs are organized by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), serving as a platform for junior gymnasts to gain experience on the international stage and prepare for future senior competition.
