Bike Park to close Oct. 10

Kids aged 8 to 18 are invited to get their triathlons on this Saturday, Oct. 1, with different courses running out of Meadow Park Sports Centre.

Like the Cheakamus Challenge, the Rubble Creek Classic trail run also celebrated its 21 st anniversary this past weekend with a field of 50 runners – not a huge field, but a record for the event as race organizers have purposely kept it small.

Three Whistler triathlon teams took part in the Grand Columbian Triathlon on the weekend, which included both full Ironman and Half Iron courses.

Although it’s in its 21 st year, for the first 19 years or so the organizers kept the Rubble Creek Run quiet because it takes place on trails in Garibaldi Park, and there was concern that B.C. Parks officials wouldn’t allow it.

It was a busy weekend for all of the solos, teams of two and teams of four that took part in the annual Sea 2 Summit adventure race, going by boat, bike and foot from Deep Cove in Vancouver to Whistler.
