Racers raise money for ski season

More than 40 K1, K2 and Juvenile racers took part in the Whistler Mountain Ski Club’s 10 th annual Bike-a-thon on Oct. 14, with racers raising pledges to help cover their racing costs and show their level of commitment.

Action-sports expo postponed, ski swap moves into B.C. Place

The MASEV Action-Sports Expo, scheduled for Oct. 27 and 28 at B.C. Place Stadium, has been postponed until spring of 2002. The organizers attributed the delay to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent military campaign in Afghanistan.

Marathoners going strong

A number of locals have been taking part in marathons as far away as Chicago this past season, posting some excellent results. In the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 7, four locals took part, led by Georgina Titus who finished in three hours, 50 minutes.
