The Squamish Nation is seeking further input from its membership about updates to the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated Eagle Mountain to Woodfibre Gas Pipeline.

These projects were approved by the Nation in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

They were also approved by both the provincial and federal governments.

Both companies have proposed changes to the project designs that require the Nation’s approval.

Woodfibre LNG is asking to house its construction staff in a floatel off of the Woodfibre site.

For the pipeline, FortisBC is proposing moving the  compressor station from Mt. Mulligan southeast of Valleycliffe to the WLNG site as well as moving the pipeline from the west to the east side of Stawamus River, among other changes.

In an announcement posted to Facebook on Aug. 19, the Nation said that it is seeking comments regarding the project updates.

There is a survey for Squamish Nation members, the results of which will “guide environmental and cultural planning” for the project.
