TORONTO — The Tampa Bay Lightning are no strangers to adversity. The back-to-back Stanley Cup champions found themselves in yet another difficult situation Saturday night.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers are through to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs after beating the L.A. Kings 2-0 in Game 7. Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist, and Mike Smith stopped 28 shots for his second shutout of the series.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Djordje Mihailovic scored just before halftime, Alistair Johnston added a second-half goal and CF Montreal blanked Charlotte FC 2-0 in MLS action on Saturday. Sebastian Breza stopped both shots he faced for Montreal (6-3-2).

VANCOUVER — Twice the Vancouver Whitecaps fought back, combining with the San Jose Earthquakes for a six goal second half and both teams splitting the spoils.
