Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens tomorrow

Here's what you can ride on opening day

Whistler's two-wheeled warriors don't have long to wait now: the Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens Friday, May 19.

In a blog post on May 16, Whistler' Blackcomb's Nick Vouture shared some key details for park users ahead of the big day.

Chief among them is the fact that the Fitzsimmons Express will be out of commission all season as a new lift is constructed, meaning all uploading out of Skier’s Plaza/Whistler Village will happen at the Whistler Village Gondola (also your only upload option until June 10, when more zones come online).

The Fitzsimmons Zone will be open on Day 1.

"As Whistler Village Gondola will be the only lift servicing Fitzsimmons Zone, please anticipate longer than average lineups and plan accordingly," the post read. "The gondola will be able to accommodate up to four bikes per cabin. Congestion in the Village will ease as Bike Park zones open up."

Things really open up on June 10, with the opening of the Garbanzo Zone and the long-awaited revamped Creekside Zone, which will offer 11 kilometres of new and expanded trails (after a grand opening celebration at the Creekside Base featuring giveaways, contests and more).

Top of the World will open later in the summer (date TBD).

Biking not your thing? The last day to ski at Whistler Blackcomb this season is on May 22—but be careful, things are fading fast up there.
