A Saskatchewan man has been ticketed for his role in a Dec. 18 collision with a commercial shuttle bus on Callaghan Valley Road, police said in a release.

Investigators said the 23-year-old driver of a red Kia Sorento was travelling eastbound when he lost control while negotiating a corner and struck a westbound shuttle bus that was carrying several passengers.

Police said a number of people were taken to local hospitals with “what has been described [as] non-life-threatening injuries.”

The Kia driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care.

“Police are reminding motorists that as the snow begins to fall and winter sets in to take care on the roadways to avoid a situation where you may be unable to stop or properly control your vehicle due to slippery or icy conditions,” Whistler RCMP Staff Sgt. Paul Hayes said in the release. “By taking a little extra time, slowing down and ensuring your vehicle is equipped with good snow tires and in good mechanical condition, you will ensure that you are able to reach your destination this holiday season."
