Three Whistler hotels have received Michelin recognition, appearing in the Michelin Guide for "Key hotels" released in September.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, the Four Seasons and Nita Lake Lodge appeared in the guide, which as explained by Michelin itself, is the hotel equivalent of its more famous Michelin star guide for restaurants.
The recognition is based on assessment of hotel design, architecture, service and personality together with overall guest experience. There are three levels of award: Three-, Two- and One-Key hotels. Thirty-three hotels from Canada made the cut.
The Fairmont Whistler was recognized as a Two-Key hotel, as was the Four Seasons Whistler—with the two Whistler hotels joining a short list of only eight in Canada to receive the Two-Key distinction.
Nita Lake Lodge was recognized as a One-Key hotel, joining 22 other hotels in the guide. The Three-Key distinction went to only two hotels in Canada: Fogo Island Inn, in Newfoundland, and the Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Tofino.
“Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s Two Key award emphasizes its distinctive design, strong sense of place, and attentive service that promises guests a stay rich with unique and memorable experiences,” reads the Fairmont’s press release celebrating its inclusion.
“We are deeply honoured to receive two Keys in the 2024 Michelin Guide,” said Fairmont Whistler general manager, Ken Hall.
“This significant recognition means a great deal to our passionate colleagues who strive to deliver warm and authentic service in the heart of Whistler, B.C. Our mission is for guests to enjoy truly special moments and immersive experiences found nowhere else on Earth."
The Four Seasons was also quite chuffed at its inclusion.
"The coveted two Michelin Keys accolade is granted to properties that go above and beyond, delivering unparalleled stays characterized by personalized service, top-tier amenities, and a strong sense of place," reads a corporate press release from Sept. 13.
"Four Seasons Resort Whistler perfectly embodies these values, offering a seamless blend of mountain charm and elevated comfort."
The Four Seasons in Toronto also received a Two Key distinction, while Fairmont hotels in another four locations in Canada received a One Key distinction.
