The Westside Wheel Up is back this Sunday for it's 29th edition.

Described as "an old-school race course on the west side trails of Whistler," the event is open to everyone with no membership required, just a $20 entry fee. Registration begins on September 10 at 10:30 a.m., one hour before things officially kick off at 11:30 a.m. Much of the race occurs in the shadow of Mount Sproatt before finishing at the end of the River Runs Through It trail.

Food, drinks and prizes will be available at the après in Rainbow Park.

As one of Whistler's longest-running bike races, the Westside Wheel Up last took place in 2020, in a heavily modified format to comply with COVID-19 health regulations at the time.

"This is a great small community bike race that has a great long history," said organizer Benoit Reneault in an email. Reneault began planning the race in 2018, taking the torch from former long-time organizer Phil Crew.
